Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry Welterweight Title Fight Set for UFC 330
17-06-26

Islam Makhachev’s first welterweight title defense is set, as he faces Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

UFC CEO Dana White announced the matchup during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, confirming that the championship bout will stream on Paramount+.

Makhachev moved up to 170 pounds in November after vacating the lightweight title, where he had set the record for consecutive lightweight title defenses. He then defeated Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 to claim the welterweight belt and tie Anderson Silva’s mark for most consecutive UFC victories at 16. A win over Machado Garry would give Makhachev the standalone record.

Machado Garry enters UFC 330 having rebounded from his lone career loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov in December 2024 with victories over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad, earning his shot at Makhachev’s title.
