Ian Machado Garry Predicts Fourth-Round Finish of Islam Makhachev at UFC 330
30-06-26

Ian Machado Garry is calling his shot ahead of UFC 330, openly targeting a late finish when he challenges Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

Garry, who enters the main event with a 17-1 MMA record and 10-1 mark in the UFC, is currently listed by FanDuel as a +280 underdog, with two-division champion Makhachev a -390 favorite at 28-1 in MMA and 17-1 in the UFC.

"My ideal scenario? I want a fourth-round finish," Garry said. "I don't want any early knockout because then there's ifs, buts, maybes. 'Ah, there's excuses.' I want four rounds of domination. And in that fourth round, I'm going to tell everybody: I'm going to do it now. And then I'm going to go in there and finish him."

The Irish contender laid out exactly how he envisions closing the show against the reigning 170-pound titleholder, adding, "I'm going to open the door, I'm going to walk him into my traps, and I'm going to take his head clean off his shoulders."

Garry heads into his first UFC title shot on back-to-back wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad last November, while Makhachev rides a 16-fight winning streak and captured the welterweight belt from Jack Della Maddalena the same month.
