Featherweights Hyder Amil and Christian Rodriguez are set to collide on the UFC Fight Night 279 main card this Saturday at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Amil enters the bout with an 11-2 MMA record and a 3-2 mark in the UFC. He is looking to rebound from back-to-back losses to Jose Delgado and Jamall Emmers, which followed a split decision win over William Gomis last March.
Rodriguez brings a 12-4 MMA record and a 5-4 UFC slate into the matchup. He is coming off consecutive defeats to Melquizael Costa and Andre Fili, after earning a unanimous decision victory over Austin Bashi last January.
Rodriguez has been out of action for the last year following the passing of his coach Duke Roufus. He has since moved to Las Vegas and is training at Xtreme Couture MMA with the help of Anthony Pettis.
Oddsmakers currently list Rodriguez as a -188 favorite, with Amil at +152 via FanDuel. The featherweights are expected to make their walk to the cage at approximately 9:10 p.m. ET.
The fight, described as a potential featherweight firefight on the UFC Fight Night 279 main card, streams live on Paramount+.
