Hunter Biden has publicly criticized the UFC Freedom 250 event that took place on the South Lawn of the White House this past Sunday, saying he wants to speak with Joe Rogan about why he believes it was offensive to Americans.
A seven-fight UFC card was staged on the South Lawn after a lawsuit filed eight days before the event failed to stop it. The suit alleged violations of federal law and National Park Service regulations, but a judge ruled that critics had waited too long and had not identified significant damage that would justify blocking the show.
Hunter Biden, who posted his comments on X, formerly Twitter, said he does not have an issue with the fighters or the UFC brand, but objects to using the White House lawn for the event. In a pointed criticism of the message he believes the staging conveyed, he said: "By holding the event on the South Lawn, what he was saying to the rest of us is: 'This is my house. I own it. I will do with it what I please. I'll build a colosseum and have the gladiators fight under my gaze. I'll tear down the East Wing. I'll pave over the Rose Garden. I'll cover everything in gold and marble. I'll erase the names of all the men who came before me.'"
A poll conducted prior to UFC Freedom 250 found that 16 percent of Americans supported holding the event at the White House. One quoted reaction to criticism of attendees said Joe Rogan tells people who are mad at those who attended the UFC fight at the White House to "shut the f*ck up."
