Georges St-Pierre has offered pointed advice to Conor McGregor ahead of his UFC 329 comeback fight against Max Holloway on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
McGregor is set to rematch Holloway in the main event, returning from a five-year layoff and his July 2021 TKO loss to Dustin Poirier, where he suffered a broken leg. According to FanDuel, Holloway enters as a -250 favorite, with McGregor listed as a +190 underdog. McGregor previously defeated Holloway by unanimous decision at featherweight in 2013.
St-Pierre made clear he has admiration for both men. “I love both fighters. I love to watch them both. I'm a big fan of both,” he said on “The Break Talk.”
Offering specific guidance for McGregor’s mindset, St-Pierre added: “I think if Conor can put himself back into the grind and be hungry, into that hell zone, he has to see it in a way that he's in the tunnel, but the light is after the fight. 'I have to go through that journey in order to see the light, but I'm not going to put myself in the light until I'm done with the fight.' If he puts himself in that zone, we're going to have a hell of a fight.”
Holloway enters the bout as a former UFC featherweight champion, while McGregor returns as a former UFC dual champion looking to reestablish himself in the UFC 329 spotlight.
