Gabriel Bonfim is set for the biggest spotlight of his career as he meets Belal Muhammad in the main event of UFC Vegas 118 on Saturday, June 6.
Bonfim, 28, returns to the headlining role after previously defeating Randy Brown in his first UFC main event. Since suffering his only loss in 2023, he has put together four straight victories, including a 3-0 run in 2025 over Khaos Williams, Stephen Thompson and Randy Brown.
Originally hoping to face Leon Edwards after his win over Brown, Bonfim instead gets Muhammad, who comes in off losses to Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Machado Garry. In 29 professional fights, Muhammad has only been stopped once, by knockout against Vicente Luque a decade ago, and later avenged that loss in 2022.
“He’s a guy who absorbs punches really well,” Bonfim said, adding, “He has an annoying style, but I believe that with my distance management and my striking, I can knock him out. And at any moment, if he wants to take me down, he’s going to get submitted. That’s a fact. The way he has his wrestling, I have my luta livre. In that aspect, we’re even.”
Bonfim described the UFC Vegas 118 headliner as “an opportunity the UFC is giving me to stay right there among the contenders,” after a training camp that lasted over four months. Looking ahead to Saturday, he said, “It would be huge. We’re going to run a test now. On Saturday, June 6, there will be a test, and we’ll see if we’re ready.”
