The Freire brothers have released extended footage of the hotel brawl in Florida that led to the cancellation of Patricky Freire's scheduled fight last Friday under the Karate Combat banner.
The new video, which includes hotel surveillance, shows the Freires and their wives being sprayed with water guns at breakfast before a brawl breaks out in the parking lot. The people with the water guns were from the team of Shahzaib Rind, the Karate Combat champion Patricky was slated to face on Saturday.
In releasing the footage, the Freires accused others of selectively editing what happened. "Guys, this MMA promotion has never had as many views as it's having now and purposefully hid some footage, and we decided to show them to you as they're trying to manipulate the footage," one of them said. "We're showing our side and what they've left out, only the truth. Watch it. They came from the promotion's office, and they had a guy ready to film. So like two children, they sprayed us with water guns and our wives, and that was the fatal error. So we start (fighting)."
Shahzaib Rind is coached by Karate Combat promoter Asim Zaidi and managed by Zaidi's wife, Laura. Zaidi has claimed he is helping the Freires avoid potential disciplinary action from the Florida Athletic Commission, which regulated the event connected to the incident.
