Former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt has been arrested and charged with domestic violence in Australia following an alleged incident involving a female family member.
Police allege the 52-year-old sent a death threat by text message, leading to a charge of "stalking or intimidation with intent to cause physical harm" after he allegedly wrote, "I'm just going to murder you in the end anyway." Police reports also state Hunt allegedly intimidated a witness.
Hunt was arrested on Tuesday and jailed overnight in Northern Rivers before being released on bail. He is under a no-contact order regarding the alleged victim and is scheduled to return to court on April 30.
Speaking about the situation, Hunt said, "Everyone argues. Everyone has issues. But you shouldn't record or take record of your partner when they're angry," and added, "… Yeah, people have made mistakes. I've made a lot of mistakes. No one's perfect. No one's Jesus. What's sad here is, not many people make a record about what's happened. That's why I feel kind of sad about it. A lot of these texts are being used retroactively – they aren't even part of what happened here a couple days ago. They're just being brought up from the past of someone making a tab."
