Austen Lane has notified the UFC of his retirement from mixed martial arts, bringing his seven-fight run with the promotion to a close.
Lane chose to step away despite being offered a fight for July, ending his career with an overall MMA record of 13-8. In the UFC, he went 1-5 with one no contest.
His lone UFC victory came in October 2024, when he earned a unanimous decision win over Robelis Despaigne. Following that result, Lane dropped three straight fights inside the distance.
Before transitioning to MMA in 2015, Lane played in the NFL as a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions, appearing in 30 games across four seasons. In 2009, he was a first-team All-American at Murray State University and the Ohio Valley Conference defensive player of the year.
