Former Interim Champ Dustin Poirier Arrested in Georgia for Public Drunkenness

Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier was arrested in Georgia on Sunday and booked for public drunkenness before being released later that night.

According to available information, Poirier was taken into custody Sunday evening and released after 10 p.m. ET. He then made an initial court appearance on Monday morning.

Details of the arrest and the circumstances leading to it are not yet available. In Georgia, public drunkenness is punishable by up to one year in jail or up to $1,000 in fines, or both.

Poirier retired in July 2025 after a headlining bout for the BMF belt against Max Holloway, which Holloway won by unanimous decision. Over a 41-fight professional career, Poirier compiled a 30-10 record with 1 no contest, held the UFC interim lightweight title, and challenged for the undisputed championship three times.

During his UFC run, Poirier earned victories over notable names including Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, and Anthony Pettis at both lightweight and featherweight.
