Former Champ Jamahal Hill Plots Ambitious Move to UFC Heavyweight
02-07-26

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is planning a move to heavyweight, targeting a debut in late 2026 or early 2027 after a tough run at 205 pounds.

Hill, who captured the vacant light heavyweight title in 2023 by defeating Glover Teixeira, is shifting divisions following a three-fight losing streak at light heavyweight. His most recent outing came in June 2025, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Khalil Rountree Jr.

Hill has already started stirring the pot at his future weight class. He released a social media video trolling potential heavyweight opponents, featuring visual references to Ciryl Gane and other heavyweights, with gestures and actions that appear aimed at various contenders.

Since his title-winning performance, Hill has dealt with a combination of losses and injuries, and now appears set on a long-term build toward a fresh start in the UFC’s heaviest division.
