Dustin Poirier says his Bud Light sponsorship was terminated in the immediate aftermath of his June 21 arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Poirier states that Bud Light ended the deal right away, describing the lost sponsorship as being worth a few hundred thousand dollars to his family. The arrest followed an incident in which Poirier says he berated flight attendants and challenged an officer to a fight.
"They terminated my contract immediately," Poirier said, later adding, "... It's all good, man. I don't need that f*cking poison in my life. ... It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars. But also, if I'm representing something (and) advertising something that I'm not going to be taking part in and promoting stuff, it is what it is."
Sean Strickland had previously said Poirier lost a major sponsor after the incident, and Poirier has now confirmed that sponsor was Bud Light.
Poirier, 37, says he has a recurring battle with alcohol that has flared up again since his competitive fighting career concluded in July 2025. He says he has sought help and apologized for his behavior during the arrest, while drawing a line between his situation and others.
"There are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly," Poirier said. "I'm not one. If you can drink responsibly, have fun. Drink a Bud Light. Drink a whatever-the-hell-you-want. Be responsible. Have a good time. I'm not that person."
