Retired UFC star Dustin Poirier was arrested for public drunkenness at an Atlanta airport, with newly released footage showing a tense confrontation with law enforcement.
TMZ released video on Tuesday that shows Poirier in an aggressive verbal exchange with a police officer after being removed from a flight. The situation did not turn physical but included Poirier verbally abusing the officer and onlookers.
After the footage became public, Poirier issued a brief statement, saying, "I’m at the point where I need some help."
Fighter King Green initially came to Poirier’s defense in the wake of the arrest, saying, "You’re telling me on Father’s Day I can’t get drunk? ... With all the shit we go through, let me enjoy my drink and leave me the f*ck alone." Colby Covington, meanwhile, criticized Poirier’s behavior following the release of the video.
The UFC veteran’s arrest and subsequent comments have put fresh spotlight on the incident and the reactions around it.
