19-07-26

Dricus du Plessis is back in the win column after earning a unanimous decision victory over Kamaru Usman in the UFC Oklahoma City main event on Saturday night.

Du Plessis swept the scorecards with one judge turning in 50-45 and the other two scoring it 49-46, securing a clear win in the headliner. Following the result, he made it clear he believes the performance should lead him directly back into title contention.

“I’m back in the winner’s circle. Let’s get my belt back,” du Plessis said after the fight, also stating that he wants another showdown with current UFC champion Sean Strickland.

Du Plessis is a former UFC middleweight champion and has two previous wins over Strickland in his career, with Strickland now described as the current UFC champion.

Despite the defeat, Usman indicated he is not done competing and mentioned possible future bouts at either 170 or 185 pounds. “It’s very rarely I have an off night in here, and everyone gets it once in awhile, and I guess this one was mine,” Usman said as he looked ahead to what comes next.
