Diego Lopes pulled double duty on the scale ahead of UFC White House, weighing in for his own fight and as a potential backup for the main event in Washington, D.C.
Lopes is scheduled to face Steve Garcia in the opener of Sunday’s UFC White House show, and he successfully hit 146 pounds at Friday’s official featherweight weigh-ins. Later, he returned to the scale at 154 pounds as a possible alternate for the lightweight championship headliner between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje.
According to UFC.com, Lopes was listed at 154.0 pounds as a potential alternate in the lightweight division, meaning he could step in for either Topuria or Gaethje if needed.
Earlier this year at UFC 303 in June 2024, Lopes was scheduled to fight Brian Ortega in the co-main event. Illness forced Ortega to withdraw on fight day, and Dan Ige replaced him. Lopes agreed to face Ige in a 165-pound catchweight bout just hours before UFC 303 started.
