Deiveson Figueiredo Draws Song Yadong in UFC Macau Main Event Clash
26-05-26

Deiveson Figueiredo will headline UFC Fight Night 277 against Song Yadong in a bantamweight main event at Galaxy Macau in Macau.

The former two-time UFC flyweight champion continues his run at 135 pounds after moving up from flyweight. Figueiredo enters the bout with a 25-6-1 MMA record and a 14-6-1 mark in the UFC, going 4-3 in seven bantamweight appearances.

Song brings a 22-9-1 MMA record and 11-4-1 UFC slate into the matchup. In the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie bantamweight rankings, Song is No. 8 and Figueiredo is No. 9.

Longtime UFC analyst Alan Jouban weighed in on the matchup, saying, "Deiveson Figueiredo obviously up a division now, he's been kind of hit or miss depending on who he is going against," and added, "Look, we can't really judge him off his losses. He's had some tough matchups. This one, I wouldn't say it's getting any easier against Song Yadong. It's a winnable fight. It's not a former champion or a guy at the very, very top of the division."

Jouban also highlighted what fans can expect when they meet: "(Song is) still young, still strong," and, "These are two guys that are going to put on an exciting show. These guys like to press forward and look for the kill."
