Dana White has turned his frustration over a UFC 329 broadcast mistake into a pointed rant at the World Cup production team, declaring them worse than his own.
White posted a video on Instagram on Sunday, after Spain’s 1-0 win over Argentina in the World Cup finale, reacting to a UFC 329 graphic that misidentified boxer Shakur Stevenson as Jalen Williams of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He had initially called UFC production the worst in sports in that department, but shifted his stance after watching the World Cup broadcast.
“It’s crazy, I actually teed up the guys who are doing the production, the guys responsible for the production of the World Cup for you guys to hit a grand slam home run,” White said. He added, “Even though everybody in my team was arguing with me saying that you are the worst, I said no, we are the worst. They didn’t f*ck it up as bad as we did.”
White then unloaded on the World Cup crew: “What do you guys do? You triple down today, and you just go ’F*ck you, Dana White, you’re not beating us. We’re the worst production team in the history of sports to every show celebrities. I bow down,” he said, before concluding, “Congratulations to the producers of the World Cup. You guys win. You guys f*cked up that flyover, too. I’m not going to nitpick, I’m juts giving you credit where credit is due. You guys absolutely f*cking suck. We are the second worst.”
The UFC is in the first year of a $7.7 billion broadcast deal with Paramount that runs another six and a half years. Fans have enjoyed a price decrease from the old pay-per-view model but have criticized aspects of the new broadcasts, including walkouts not being shown, pacing issues, and post-production not allowing viewing of entire cards.
