Turki Alalshikh’s call for a peace summit between feuding boxing promoters is getting little traction from two of the main players involved, Dana White and Eddie Hearn.
Speaking around Zuffa Boxing 08 at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas, both promoters signaled they are not interested in burying the hatchet, despite working under Alalshikh’s wider boxing umbrella.
Hearn, whose stable has seen fighters poached by Zuffa Boxing, made it clear he is relishing the rivalry. “I’ve got to be honest: this war that I’m in with Dana White, I find so enjoyable,” he said, later adding, “If you ask me, I don’t really want peace. I want war, but in a good way. I’ve got nothing personal against Dana White. I’m just really enjoying it.”
White, who has claimed he intends to push Hearn out of the biggest fights of the year, downplayed any need for a summit. “I don’t know what our issues would be. I’m good,” he said. He also dismissed other combat sports promoters as competition, stating, “None of these other guys matter to me. None of them on either side. On the MMA side or the or the boxing side. I’m not even gonna go into that kind of s—t anymore. We are not the same.”
The feud now intersects with talks for a potential Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua clash. According to Hearn, contracts for that bout require that White not be involved and that the fight must take place in the United Kingdom. White, for his part, said, “I have all the info. See what Turki says in the peace summit … I know where it is, and never did I say it was in Las Vegas.”
