Dana White Denies UFC 329 Announcement Targeted Francis Ngannou Event

Dana White insists the timing of the UFC 329 announcement — including the return of Conor McGregor — had nothing to do with Francis Ngannou or Most Valuable Promotion’s MMA event.

White revealed the UFC 329 lineup and McGregor’s comeback during the Rousey vs. Carano event earlier this month. The announcement landed as Ngannou was walking to the cage to face Philipe Lins in the featured bout of a Most Valuable Promotion card.

“Not a coincidence, I had a f*cking fight here that night,” White said when asked about the timing. He added, “Anybody who thinks that I gave a shit what was going on anywhere else is out of their f*cking minds.”

According to White, the promotion moved as soon as the deal was finalized. “We announced it as soon as we got it done and we were in the middle of our event,” he said. “I don’t give a f*ck what those guys are doing. Are you kidding me?”

UFC 329 is scheduled for July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, headlined by a main event rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway. The matchup had been rumored and in the works for several months, and Holloway has said he had to keep the fight a secret for nearly six months before it was officially announced.
