Dana White says Alex Pereira will become his greatest fighter of all time if he captures interim heavyweight gold against Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 at the White House in Washington DC.
White, who has long labeled Jon Jones as his greatest UFC fighter ever, outlined what’s at stake for Pereira in the interim title bout. "You got Pereira possibly winning his third world title," White said.
"If he wins the third world title that night, he jumps over Jon Jones and becomes the greatest of all time," White added.
Pereira, a former middleweight and two-time light heavyweight champion, is scheduled to face Gane for the interim heavyweight title. With a win, he can become the first fighter to earn a version of a belt in three UFC weight classes.
Pereira debuted in the UFC in November 2021 and is currently ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie pound-for-pound rankings. White has overseen the UFC careers of both Jones and Pereira as he weighs a potential shift in his personal greatest-of-all-time hierarchy.
