Dan Hooker doesn’t see the UFC granting Renato Moicano his post-fight wish.
After Moicano submitted Chris Duncan in the UFC Fight Night 272 main event and called out Hooker, the New Zealander made it clear he doubts that matchup is in the promotion’s plans.
"The UFC is not going to make that fight," Hooker said, pointing to their ages and status. "We're both bones. We're both carcass and bones. You're not going to put a 37-year-old against a 36-year-old, not even at the Apex."
Hooker believes the promotion had different intentions with Moicano at UFC Fight Night 272. "They tried to feed Moicano to Duncan who's a good kid, big market, you crack into the European market, but they're not feeding me Moicano. Don't get me wrong, I would jump on that fight with two feet, but they don't feed one carcass to another carcass. It's the sport. They use the older generation to build up the next generation."
Moicano’s win over Duncan snapped a two-fight losing streak. Hooker, meanwhile, is coming off back-to-back stoppage losses to Arman Tsarukyan and Benoit Saint Denis.
Hooker holds a 24-14 professional MMA record, including 14-10 in the UFC, while Moicano sits at 21-7-1 overall and 13-7 inside the Octagon.
