Cub Swanson is set to make his final UFC walk when he faces Nate Landwehr in the UFC 327 main card opener at Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday.
Swanson enters his last outing with a 30-14 professional MMA record and a 15-10 mark in the UFC after years as a perennial featherweight contender in both WEC and UFC. Landwehr comes in with an 18-7 MMA record and a 5-5 run in the UFC.
Reflecting on his career, Swanson said, "I've had some really low points in this sport and I've been able to pull myself out of it, and I think that's what this sport is all about." He added, "I am a journeyman. I've been searching for something, and this sport helped me find it."
Swanson holds notable wins over Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier but never became a champion despite his long run near the top of the featherweight division. Now 42 years old, he plans to continue coaching and running his management company, Bloodline, after his final fight.
