Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway Set for Welterweight Clash at UFC 329
22-05-26

Conor McGregor is officially booked to face Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 on July 11, marking McGregor’s first fight in nearly five years.

The UFC announced that the bout will take place at 170 pounds, a rematch more than a decade after McGregor defeated Holloway by unanimous decision 13 years ago at featherweight.

McGregor, 37, has been out of action since losing his trilogy bout to Dustin Poirier in 2021, a fight in which he suffered a broken leg. His return was delayed by that injury and a drug test related suspension.

McGregor addressed his comeback publicly, saying, "Thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement over the last few days, people!" He added, "I am better than ever, and I relish the opportunity to once again show my mastery in martial arts to the world. Lord Jesus in your name, please, to inspire the next generation to come! Amen".

Holloway enters UFC 329 after losing his BMF belt to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 in April, a setback that hurt his position as a lightweight contender. Both McGregor and Holloway have previously held championship titles ahead of this scheduled welterweight showdown.
