Conor McGregor is set to kick off what his team is calling a “new season” of activity when he faces Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
McGregor’s manager Audie Attar says the former champion is planning to stay busy after the Holloway bout, with multiple fights in quick succession and two bouts remaining on his current UFC contract.
“I could tell you that we had planned for a ‘season’ during the COVID period, and that never got going, unfortunately. So this is the new season, and he’s definitely looking to stay active. We’re definitely looking forward to to not only this fight, Max Holloway, July 11, and then that next fight, and we’re not gonna wait a year, that’s for sure,” Attar said.
Attar noted that McGregor had wanted to keep Michael Chandler as his opponent after their previously scheduled UFC 303 meeting in 2024 fell through due to McGregor’s broken pinky toe, but ultimately accepted Holloway instead.
“I don’t think we’re looking too far ahead of things. We’re just taking it one step at a time, as we should because Max Holloway is a formidable opponent, and we gotta go and handle business come July 11,” Attar said, calling it “a tough match-up.”
McGregor last fought twice in a 12-month span in 2021 against Dustin Poirier, and before that in 2016 against Nate Diaz. Attar emphasized both the danger and the opportunity in McGregor’s return against an active Holloway, while expressing confidence in his fighter’s preparation and mindset.
