Conor McGregor says the fire is back as he prepares to return against Max Holloway in the UFC 329 main event this Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.
McGregor is set for a five-round bout at 170 pounds against one of the UFC’s most active fighters, marking his first appearance since a 2021 TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in which he broke his leg. He enters with a 22-6 MMA record (10-4 UFC), while Holloway sits at 27-9 in MMA (23-9 UFC).
"If I didn't have the fire or the hunger, yet I'm up against one of the most active bodies in the fight game in Max Holloway," McGregor said, calling the task ahead of him "colossal" but insisting, "I'm entering with supreme confidence. It's magnificent; the fire is in my belly roaring, and it's about to be released on Saturday night."
Reflecting on his layoff and road back, McGregor added, "I outworked doubt," and emphasized the work behind this comeback. "Doubt only builds if you do not put the work in, so I make sure I put the work in. Our preparation for this bout has been very meticulous. We've been very, if you will, secretive. Nothing has really come out on our approach or our styles. It's a full-fledged mixed martial artist stepping in that octagon on Saturday night. I'm excited to show it."
