Conor McGregor Dismisses Justin Gaethje Callout Ahead of UFC 329

Conor McGregor is brushing off talk of a future clash with Justin Gaethje at lightweight as he gears up for his return at UFC 329 in Las Vegas.

Speaking at Wednesday’s UFC 329 media day, McGregor responded to Gaethje’s call for a fight by saying, "Join the queue, join the queue. There's a few," and made it clear a cut back to 155 pounds is not on his mind.

"Yeah, look, he has the lightweight belt, fair play to him. Holloway put him face down, ass up, though. Badly, badly face down. I'm not even thinking about it this time. Will I go down to lightweight again? Also is another thing I'm not so sure. I fancy the triple crown, so less of the disrespect, you f*cking bum."

McGregor is set to face Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 at 170 pounds, in his first fight since breaking his leg in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021. The former featherweight and lightweight champion has spent the last five years recovering from the leg injury and previously withdrew from a planned 2024 return against Michael Chandler due to a broken toe.

Islam Makhachev is the current welterweight champion and is scheduled to defend his belt against Ian Machado Garry on Aug. 15, while McGregor has expressed interest in becoming the first fighter to win UFC titles in three different divisions.
