Colby Covington has officially notified the UFC of his retirement from active competition, ending his run as one of the promotion’s most prominent welterweights.
UFC officials confirmed Covington’s retirement, and the UFC athlete database now lists him as retired. Covington last fought in December 2024, losing by third-round stoppage to Joaquin Buckley.
A former UFC interim welterweight champion, Covington exits the sport with an overall record of 17-5 and a 12-5 mark inside the UFC octagon, with wins over Jorge Masvidal, Tyron Woodley, Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler. He previously failed in a bid to win the undisputed welterweight title from Leon Edwards one year before his December 2024 fight.
Covington has recently competed in wrestling matches at RAF, defeating Luke Rockhold and Dillon Danis and is scheduled to face Chris Weidman on May 30 in Texas.
His retirement comes as the UFC roster continues to shift. Mayra Bueno Silva and Brad Riddell have been removed from the UFC roster. Bueno Silva went winless in her last six UFC fights, including a title fight loss to Raquel Pennington, and most recently lost a decision to Michelle Montague in April. Riddell dropped three straight stoppage losses to Rafael Fiziev, Jalin Turner and Renato Moicano between 2021 and 2022, then withdrew from a scheduled March 2024 bout with Thiago Moises after more than a year out of competition.
