Colby Covington has accused former roommate Jon Jones of using testosterone and steroids during their community college wrestling days.

According to the account, Covington and Jones lived together while wrestling for Iowa Central Community College, and Covington claims Jones began using testosterone in his final year to move from 197 pounds to heavyweight. Covington alleges that this period coincided with changes in Jones’ behavior.

“It wasn’t until my last year in college when he started using testosterone,” Covington said. “Because he wanted to beef up from 197 to heavyweight. So his plan was like, ‘Hey, let’s just start doing a bunch of testosterone to get strength and get bigger.’ That’s when his mood swings started going all over the place.”

Covington described what he says were angry outbursts over minor issues. “He started yelling at me for little s--t. Like, I’d leave my shoes up front by the door. ‘What the f--k Colby? Why are your shoes by the door? I almost tripped on them.’ Freaking out, making a big deal out of something. I’m being real. That’s the honest truth.”

“He would freak out about little s--t that didn’t matter just because he was having mood swings from all the chemicals and the steroids he was putting in his body. That’s facts. No one can dispute that. He failed two or three steroid tests. The guy’s a cheater, bro. He was doing it in college because he wanted to bulk up to heavyweight. He didn’t want to go 197 anymore.”

Covington shared the story during an interview with Daniel Cormier, and the account is characterized as hearsay that can be disputed. The article also states that Jones has failed multiple drug tests and notes that he blamed one failed test on tainted erection medication obtained along with clomiphene.
