Cody Garbrandt Issues Defiant Message After UFC 329 Knockout Loss
15-07-26

Cody Garbrandt has broken his silence following his knockout loss to Adrian Yanez in their one-round bout at UFC 329.

Garbrandt was stopped by Yanez this past Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After the defeat, the former UFC bantamweight champion removed his gloves in the middle of the octagon, prompting questions about his future.

On Tuesday evening, Garbrandt released his first public statement on Instagram, reflecting on the setback and his mindset moving forward. “There are moments in life when hope fades, and the weight of endless problems makes the path unclear,” Garbrandt wrote.

He then made it clear he intends to keep competing, adding: “But remember this — you only lose when you choose to give up. Let your struggles be your fuel, not your downfall. Don’t let the storm break you. Let it strengthen your will to rise and keep fighting.”

Garbrandt, who once captured the bantamweight title by defeating Dominick Cruz at UFC 207 after winning his first five UFC bouts, has now won four of his last 12 appearances. He entered UFC 329 coming off a decision win over Xiao Long at UFC 326, a fight in which multiple points were taken from Long for low blows.
