Chris Weidman Confirms Contact for Possible Third Anderson Silva Fight

Chris Weidman says Most Valuable Promotions has reached out about a potential third clash with Anderson Silva and is open to both MMA and boxing options — for the right price.

Speaking with MMA Fighting, the former UFC middleweight champion confirmed talks had begun. “They did [reach out],” Weidman said. “My manager hit me up. They were curious if I had any interest in doing MMA against Anderson and I told my manager yeah but that has to be even way more money.”

Weidman, who retired from the UFC in early 2025 and later saw his GFL run collapse after the promotion imploded, previously agreed to box Silva on a Jake Paul card before withdrawing due to a torn bicep. Now, he says he has made his stance clear. “To get through a training camp and everything. We asked for as much money as possible and then I haven’t heard anything back.”

“Listen, I’d be down for the right amount of money,” Weidman added. “Me and Anderson have done a lot in our careers and have been through a lot. We’d love to get paid good for that. We’ll see what happens. That would be cool. I would be down.”

Weidman also remains interested in revisiting the boxing matchup, praising Silva’s run that includes a knockout of Tyron Woodley. “It’s been very quiet on that boxing front for me. I haven’t heard a thing. I would be down for that 100%. I’ve got a lot of respect for Anderson. I think he’s an unbelievable boxer. I think he’s a freak of nature.”

Away from his own future, Weidman weighed in on the May 16 card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano, as Rousey prepares for her first fight in a decade and Carano returns for the first time since 2009. “Ronda Rousey, her promotional skills, when she decides to turn it on and promotes fights, she’s up there with some of the best promoters there’s been in this game,” he said.
