Chris Padilla Files Formal Review After UFC 327 Result Change
13-04-26

Chris Padilla has submitted a formal review to the Florida Athletic Commission after his apparent win over MarQuel Mederos at UFC 327 in Miami was later changed to a majority draw.

Padilla was initially announced as the winner on the prelims, in a bout where Mederos was docked one point in the final round for eye pokes. About an hour after the fight, the result was officially amended to a majority draw.

“I respect the judges, but I stand by what I did in there, and I believe this decision deserves to be reviewed,” Padilla said. He added, “I believe I won that fight clearly under the scoring criteria; in damage, control, and overall impact. It’s tough to accept that the fight was even close on the scorecards, especially when the performance spoke for itself along with the point deduction given to my opponent.”

Padilla, 30, now sits at 17-6-1 and came into UFC 327 on a seven-fight winning streak. Mederos, 29, holds an 11-1-1 record and had won nine in a row heading into the matchup. Bruce Buffer announced the original result and has not been publicly heard from since UFC 327.
