The child abuse case against longtime UFC veteran Tim Means was dismissed without prejudice on Monday after a key witness failed to appear in court.
Prosecutors filed nolle prosequi in the case, signaling they would no longer pursue the single felony count of child abuse that Means had been facing, along with potential prison time if convicted.
Means was initially arrested on April 10 after police received a call about a physical altercation involving his daughter. According to a criminal complaint, an officer stated "there were visible hand and red marks on (the teen’s) neck, indicating she was strangled. There was blood on and in her nose where she was head-butted, and several red marks indicated she was hit in the face and on her cheek."
The complaint also referenced a "strangulation manner" in describing the alleged incident. With the dismissal entered without prejudice, the case is closed for now.
Means is a 12-year UFC veteran who last competed in 2024, when he lost by submission to Court McGee. He is 1-5 in his past six fights.
