Carlos Ulberg Eyes Jiri Prochazka Showdown, Future Clash With Pereira

Carlos Ulberg is set for the biggest opportunity of his career, headlining UFC 327 in a vacant light heavyweight title fight against Jiri Prochazka at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday night, April 11.

Ulberg enters the 205-pound title bout on a nine-fight winning streak, with a 13-1 record and six finishes during that run. The belt became available after Alex Pereira moved on to pursue a third UFC title at "UFC White House" in June.

Ulberg made it clear he wanted his shot at the championship to come against the reigning king. “I would’ve loved to have fought the champion because that would’ve etched me to be the best,” he said.

“He is the man right now, and he is definitely the guy that I wanted to fight for that title. I think a win here, a dominant win here could definitely lure Pereira back to the division and test himself, as well. He’s the man at the moment and to be the man you’ve got to beat the man. If you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat him,” Ulberg added, referring to “Poatan.”

Ulberg also outlined his long-term ambitions beyond UFC 327. “It is always focusing on me and what’s at hand and in front of me. The main course is to get that title, hold it for as long as I can, and then when I prove myself in the light heavyweight division, then I will chase that heavyweight belt.”
