Bryce Mitchell is set for a high-profile grappling showcase, as he meets UFC BJJ bantamweight champion Mikey Musumeci in a non-title featherweight bout headlining UFC BJJ 11 on Sept. 24.
Despite Musumeci holding the bantamweight belt, his title will not be on the line when he faces Mitchell in the main event. The card will also feature Mason Fowler defending his light heavyweight belt against Nicky Rod in the co-main event.
Mitchell, known as "Thug Nasty," recently scored a submission win over Santiago Luna by arm-triangle choke with eight seconds left in the final round. He has 19 MMA wins, with 10 coming by submission, and joined the UFC in 2018.
Over the last nine months, Mitchell has stayed active in grappling, competing three times, including a draw with Jean Silva and two EBI bouts against JJ Bowers and Landon Elmore.
Musumeci enters the matchup as a four-time IBJJF black belt world champion. He is undefeated under the UFC BJJ banner after a successful grappling run in ONE Championship.
