Former opponent to both men, Brandon Moreno has weighed in on the upcoming flyweight clash between Lone'er Kavanagh and Brandon Royval on the UFC 329 main card at T-Mobile Arena.
Moreno, who lost decisions to both Kavanagh and Royval in recent outings, believes his experience gives him a unique vantage point on the matchup. "Obviously, I have a nice insight because I fought against both," he said.
Oddsmakers have Kavanagh favored to win, and Moreno is on the same page. "So, I think Lone'er is the favorite for this fight for a reason. The only thing I can add to the comment is once Brandon Royval has the rhythm and the timing and in the middle of the fight, it's dangerous. He's super dangerous, and it's really hard to stop him. Let's see what happens in the end."
Moreno pointed to recent form and professionalism on both sides, noting Royval’s current skid and Kavanagh’s readiness on short notice. "Obviously, for the side of Brandon Royval, maybe he doesn't have the best moment right now with two losses in a row – the last one, kind of badly against Manel Kape. On the other side, you have a Lone'er Kavanagh, and I think he showed to the world and to the company how professional he is. He went in a short-notice fight against me in Mexico City, and he was ready to rock."
He also highlighted Royval’s pressure and durability as potential factors against Kavanagh, whose only career loss came against Charles Johnson.
