Bia Mesquita kept her unbeaten run alive with a first-round submission win over Melissa Mullins on the prelims of UFC Fight Night 279 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Mesquita secured the finish at 3:16 of the opening round, moving her record to 8-0 in MMA and 3-0 in the UFC. Mullins dropped to 7-3 overall and 2-3 in the promotion.
Ranked No. 13 in the UFC women’s bantamweight division, Mesquita used her post-fight interview to set her sights on a higher-ranked contender, issuing a fiery callout of No. 5 Ailin Perez.
"I want to be top 10, top five, so, Ailin Perez, hey, you are disgusting for this weight division," Mesquita said. "This not a place to shake your ass. I'm going to kick your ass, girl."
