Bernardo Sopaj picked up a statement submission win over Timmy Cuamba at UFC Fight Night 276, locking in a rear-naked choke in the second round.
The bantamweight bout took place at Meta APEX in Las Vegas, where Sopaj secured the finish at the 2:25 mark of Round 2. The victory improved his UFC record to 2-1 and pushed his overall winning streak to two, while snapping Cuamba’s two-fight run.
Sopaj, 25, now holds a 13-3 MMA record after rebounding from a short-notice UFC debut loss to Vinicius Oliveira by flying knee knockout in March 2024, followed by a unanimous decision win over Ricky Turcios and now the submission of Cuamba.
Cuamba, 27, falls to 10-4 in MMA and 2-3 in the UFC after the loss in Las Vegas.
