Beneil Dariush is set to face rising lightweight Quillan Salkilld in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 275 at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.
Dariush enters the matchup with a 23-7-1 MMA record and a 17-7-1 mark in the UFC, while Salkilld brings an 11-1 MMA record and a perfect 4-0 start in the UFC, including three stoppages and three bonuses in his first four appearances.
Asked about his approach, Dariush kept it simple: "I mean, the way you win a fight is you hit the guy more than he hits you. So, I plan on hitting him more. I'm not really sure what else to tell you," he said, later adding, "We'll find out Saturday. We'll see."
Dariush also reacted to some negative crowd responses, saying, "Come on. We're all grown-ups here. Don't act like kids. … Like four guys (don't like me). Come on, man. The rest of the crowd is cool. OK, OK – it's six guys. My bad. It's six people. All right, (big deal): I got booed."
The veteran lightweight, who has spent years facing difficult opponents in the division, summed up his mindset for the matchup with Salkilld, who is described as a rising star fighting close to his home in Perth: "I think I think it's the perfect time for this fight."
