Beneil Dariush Downplays Swollen Eye Ahead of UFC Perth Co-Main Event

Beneil Dariush says a swollen eye suffered in training will not derail his co-main event clash with Quillan Salkilld at UFC Fight Night 275 in Perth, Western Australia.

Dariush is set to face Salkilld at RAC Arena despite visible swelling around his eye stemming from a series of recent training mishaps. He indicated he does not expect the issue to affect him on fight night.

Detailing how the problem developed, Dariush said, "Yeah (in training), and it keeps happening," before expanding on the sequence of incidents. "It happened, I think was Saturday. I don't know if it was a bumped head or like I got hit in the side of the eye, and I've been kind of stressing out about it, and then last night I'm training, and I get a fingernail right here to the side of it, and it swelled up. So, they're minor things, not a big deal, but it is what it is. It freaking keeps happening."

Dariush enters the bout coming off a quick knockout loss to Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 322 in November, which was preceded by a unanimous decision win over Renato Moicano at UFC 317. He holds a professional record of 23-7-1 in MMA and 17-7-1 in the UFC.

Salkilld arrives in Perth riding an 11-fight winning streak, including eight stoppages, and carries an 11-1 professional record with a 4-0 mark in the UFC.
