Asu Almabayev delivered a rare submission finish at UFC Baku on Saturday, tapping Charles Johnson with a Suloev stretch in their main card flyweight matchup.
Almabayev secured the Suloev stretch at 3:33 of Round 3, marking just the fourth time the technique has produced a submission in UFC history.
With the victory, Almabayev improved his UFC record to 7-1 and extended his winning streak to three fights. His only loss in the promotion came against Manel Kape in the main event of UFC Vegas 105 in March 2025, and he also holds a submission win over Alex Perez from UFC Qatar in November.
Johnson, who entered UFC Baku as the last fighter to defeat current flyweight champion Joshua Van, has now alternated wins and losses over his past six outings.
