Arnold Allen Endorses Movsar Evloev for Next UFC Featherweight Title Shot
14-05-26

Arnold Allen is throwing his support behind Movsar Evloev as the man who should challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title.

Speaking ahead of his Saturday main event against Melquizael Costa at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Allen made it clear he wants title shots to go to the most deserving contenders and believes Evloev fits that bill.

Allen has shared the cage with both Movsar Evloev and Jean Silva, dropping close decisions to each, but he still sees a clear frontrunner. "Movsar," Allen said when asked who should be next, later adding, "Volk's too dynamic, too smart for Silva."

Allen pointed to Evloev’s victories over himself, Lerone Murphy, Diego Lopes, and Aljamain Sterling as the foundation of his case. "You've got to give it to Movsar," Allen said. "I know his track record doesn't look good. He's had a lot of pullouts, a lot of canceled fights, but it is a sport, and I think for the integrity of the sport, a guy has done the job and beat the guys. However, I feel he beat me. However, Aljamain feels he beat him. However, Diego Lopes feels, he got the win. So, it is what it is."

According to the records given, Evloev is currently undefeated in MMA and in the UFC, strengthening his position as a leading contender to Volkanovski’s featherweight throne.
