29-06-26

Ariane da Silva has officially called time on her MMA career following her loss to Jena Bishop at PFL San Diego.

Da Silva was submitted by armbar in the first round of their prelim bout at Pechanga Arena on Saturday. The setback marked her first defeat in PFL after a debut win over Sumiko Inaba three months earlier in Pittsburgh.

Announcing her decision, da Silva stated, "Officially retired from MMA.

Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Yesterday was the last time I stepped into the cage, bringing to a close a journey of nearly 13 years as a professional MMA fighter, with the privilege of competing in the biggest organizations in the world."

The 32-year-old Brazilian, known as the Queen of Violence, closes the book on a nearly 13-year professional run that included stints in both the UFC and PFL. She went 6-8 over a 14-fight UFC tenure, which ended with a decision loss to Wang Cong at UFC 316, where she missed weight by six pounds.

Da Silva earned two post-fight bonuses for submissions during her six UFC victories and compiled 10 stoppages across 18 career wins. Her professional journey, spanning more than a dozen years, is now over as she steps away from competition and looks ahead to what she called "a new season of life."
