Alexander Volkov added another victory to his resume at UFC 328, outpointing Waldo Cortes-Acosta by unanimous decision on the main card at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Volkov earned the nod on all three judges’ scorecards with tallies of 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28. He relied on kicks and long-range striking to control much of the action over three rounds.
The bout was briefly halted in Round 3 due to an eye poke, but after a pause the fight was restarted and went the distance.
With this result, Volkov has now gone the distance in four consecutive fights, winning three of them. He entered UFC 328 with a 40-11 MMA record and a 14-5 mark in the UFC, while Cortes-Acosta came in at 17-3 in MMA and 10-3 in the UFC, riding a three-fight winning streak that ends with this loss.
