Alessandro Costa closed the show in brutal fashion at UFC Fight Night 272, stopping Stewart Nicoll by TKO late in the second round of their flyweight prelim bout at Meta APEX.
The finish came at 4:56 of Round 2, when Costa landed a left hook to the body that ended Nicoll’s night. The result moves Costa’s MMA record to 15-5 and his UFC mark to 3-3.
All three of Costa’s UFC victories have come by TKO, and he has alternated wins and losses across his six Octagon appearances. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu-based fighter once again showed his stopping power in the stand-up.
Nicoll, who hails from Australia, falls to 8-3 in MMA and 0-3 in the UFC, and is still searching for his first win in the promotion after three attempts.
