Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev needed only eight seconds to knock out Julius Walker at UFC Baku on Saturday, delivering one of the fastest finishes in UFC light heavyweight history.
Yakhyaev stopped Walker just moments into Round 1, forcing referee Jim Perdios to wave off the bout after Walker showed no signs of recovery. The result moved Yakhyaev to 10-0, while Walker dropped to 7-3.
The lightning-fast finish tied James Irvin for the second-fastest knockout in the UFC light heavyweight division. Ryan Jimmo still holds the divisional record with a seven-second knockout of Anthony Perosh in July 2012.
Yakhyaev, an undefeated light heavyweight, has now recorded three straight first-round UFC finishes, having previously stopped Brendson Ribeiro and Raffael Cerqueira in his first two appearances. He entered the matchup with Walker as one of the biggest favorites on the UFC Baku card.
